Lloyd,
I hope these might help. Your book says to consume yogurt
so for cost efficiciency I thought I might let you all know
how to make your own. I use fresh goats milk, but as for
most they probably use soy to avoid pastuerized, homogonized
milk....
1 quart soy milk
2 Tbls soy yogurt (available at most
health food stores, must have live cultures and will say
on carton)
Heat the milk to 110. Add
the yogurt. Keep at a constant warm temp 8 - 12 hours or
overnight. Place on a heating pad on low
(with all the aches and pains everyone should have one of
these around), place over pilot on stove, put one pot inside
another with warm water in it, put water in your crockpot
on low and set another bowl nestled in the water. Be creative!!
Save 2 - 3 tablespoons of
the yogurt for your next batch.
When it stops working buy another fresh batch for
a starter.
To sweeten I use frozen thawed strawberries or peaches or
whatever. I sprinkle them with raw sugar or honey and smash
them up or cut them up then spoon the yogurt on top and
top with granola. Yum!!
3 C Rolled Oats
1 C Coconut (unsweetened)
1 C Sliced almonds or walnuts
1/4 C Maple Syrup (The real stuff)
1/2 C Honey
1 T Olive Oil
1C Raisens or any dried fruit
1 tsp Cinnamon
Any of the above can be played with. Just use same quantities.
I like walnuts and dried apples. Syrup can be replaced with
all honey. You don't really need anything but oats and honey.
Add what you like. Dried cranberries are good too.
Mix all dry
ingredients.
Mix all wet
separately.
Add wet to
dry and moistened completely. If you need more honey add
more honey. Spread onto a cookie sheet thinly. Bake at 375
for 15 to 20 minutes stirring once or until golden brown.
Let cool. Keep an eye on it as granola is easy to burn.
Enjoy with soy milk or goats milk or on top of yogurt.
